Few people with diabetes ever have diabetes alone. John Clements, assistant professor in MSU’s online Master of Public Health program, is turning to public health science to address diabetes outcome disparities for the elderly.

Mohamed Z. Satti is one of the professors teaching HM101—An Introduction to Public Health. He is an expert in infectious diseases caused by parasites, infections transmitted from animals to humans, and also studies the connection between climate change and vector-borne diseases.

Darline K. El Reda teaches in the Master of Public Health program at the College of Human Medicine’s Division of Public Health Flint campus. She writes about the need for public health practitioners in our broken health care system.

Linda Cornish, MBA, CRA, CHRS, takes on dual appointment as the operations manager and as the newly appointed division administrator in the MSU College of Human Medicine’s Division of Public Health in Flint.  

Physician Mona Hanna-Attisha says there’s a good reason Flint is still on filtered and bottled water. Dr. Hanna-Attisha and her team helped prove the children of Flint had been poisoned by a lead-contaminated water supply, and now she's working to build a new and better model for public health. 

Debra Furr-Holden joins the College of Human Medicine’s dean’s executive team as the associate dean for public health integration. An epidemiologist by training, her research aims to ameliorate behavioral health inequities.

Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program. It is a one-year leadership training on coaching, networking, and mentoring for senior women faculty.

Mona Hanna-Attisha, Flint whistleblower, receives the inaugural Vilcek and Arnold P. Gold foundations Humanism in Healthcare Award for immigrant healthcare leaders. The award will be presented at the AAMC Annual Meeting in November 2019.

Connie Currier brings 25 years of cross-cultural experience to the Master of Public Health. She spent two years in Africa as a Population Fellow with the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council.
